What is a Google review link?
A Google review link opens the “write a review” box for your business straight away. Instead of telling customers to search for you on Google, find the right listing and scroll to the reviews, you send one link and they land on the star rating.
Google gives every business a Place ID, a unique code that starts with ChIJ. This tool turns that Place ID into the official review address, or tidies up the short review link from your Business Profile, so you have one reliable link to share.
Why a normal Google Maps link doesn’t work
When you tap “Share” in Google Maps you get a short link like maps.app.goo.gl/… It opens your listing, but not the review form, and it hides the Place ID. Working out the Place ID from a short link needs Google’s paid Places API, which this free tool doesn’t use. Use the “Ask for reviews” link from your Business Profile or copy your Place ID from Google’s Place ID Finder instead.
How to ask for Google reviews the right way
- Ask every customer. Google’s policy doesn’t allow “review gating”, where you only send the link to people you expect to be happy.
- Never offer anything in return. Discounts, gifts or prize draws for reviews break Google’s rules and can get reviews removed.
- Ask at the right moment. Send the link soon after the job is finished, while the experience is fresh.
- Make it easy. Put the link in your WhatsApp follow-up, your email signature and on your invoices.
- Reply to reviews. Thank people for good reviews and respond calmly to negative ones. Future customers read your replies too.
Reviews are one part of local visibility. A complete Business Profile, accurate details across the web and a website that loads fast on phones matter just as much.
