GBP UTM Link Builder

Add consistent UTM tags to the website link on your Google Business Profile, so visits from your profile get their own line in Google Analytics. Build one link or a whole set for every branch. Free, and it all runs in your browser.
1

Where should the link go?

Use the page customers should land on, such as your home page, a branch page or your booking page.

Fills in a consistent naming convention. You can change any field below.

2

Campaign labels

3

Your tagged link

Enter your website page and your tagged Business Profile link will appear here.

4

Several branches? (optional)

Each branch gets its own link with the branch name as the content label. Add | page URL to send a branch to its own page. Up to 50 branches.

Runs in your browser. No account or upload. UTM labels are visible in the link, so never put customer names or phone numbers in them.

How to use GBP UTM Link Builder

  1. Enter your website page. Use the page customers should land on, such as your home page, branch page or booking page.
  2. Pick the profile link. Choose Website button, appointment, menu or a Google post. The labels fill in with a tried and tested convention, and you can change any of them.
  3. Copy and test. Copy the tagged link and open it once to make sure the page loads.
  4. Paste it into your profile. In your Business Profile choose Edit profile, then Contact, and replace the website link. Check the visits in Google Analytics under Traffic acquisition a few days later.

Why tag your Google Business Profile link?

Without tags, most visits from your Business Profile show up in Google Analytics as ordinary “google / organic” traffic, mixed in with everyone who found you through normal search results. You can’t tell whether your profile is sending people to your website or not.

UTM tags are small labels added to the end of a link, such as utm_source=google, utm_medium=organic and utm_campaign=gbp. They don’t change the page visitors see. They simply tell your analytics where the visit came from, so your profile traffic gets its own line in your reports.

A simple naming convention that works

  • Source: google. The visit came from Google.
  • Medium: organic. It was free, unpaid traffic. Avoid cpc, which is reserved for Google Ads.
  • Campaign: gbp. This groups every Business Profile link together.
  • Content: website, appointment, menu or a branch name. This shows which link or which branch was clicked.

Whatever you choose, keep it lowercase and spell it the same way every time. Google Analytics treats GBP, gbp and Gbp as three different campaigns.

Tracking several branches

If you have a profile for each location, give each one its own link with the branch name as the content label, and point it to that branch’s page where you have one. The branch section of this tool builds all the links at once and lets you download them as a spreadsheet.

Remember that UTM tags only measure website visits. Calls, direction requests and messages from your profile are counted in the Performance section of your Business Profile, not in Analytics.

GBP UTM Link Builder: FAQs

Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and everything you type stays in your browser. Nothing is sent to this website or any server.
No. Google understands UTM parameters on Business Profile links and they don’t affect your ranking. Make sure your page has a canonical tag pointing to the clean URL, which most WordPress SEO plugins add for you.
A common and safe choice is source google, medium organic and campaign gbp, with the content label showing which link was clicked. Avoid medium cpc, because that is how Google Ads traffic is labelled.
Go to Reports, Acquisition, Traffic acquisition and change the main table column to Session campaign. Your gbp campaign will appear once people start clicking the new link.
No. UTM tags only label visits to your website. Calls, direction requests and messages are shown in the Performance section of your Business Profile.
