What LocalBusiness schema does
LocalBusiness schema is a small block of code, written in a format called JSON-LD, that tells search engines the facts about your business in a way they can read reliably: your name, type of business, address, phone number, opening hours and official profiles. It doesn’t change how your page looks to visitors.
Schema helps Google connect your website with your business and understand details such as your hours and location. It doesn’t guarantee higher rankings or a special search result on its own, but it removes guesswork and supports everything else you do for local SEO.
Rules for accurate schema
- Match what visitors can see. The name, address, phone and hours in the code should match your page and your Google Business Profile exactly.
- Use one record per location. If you have several branches, give each branch its own page with its own schema.
- Don’t publish a home address. If you work from home and visit customers, tick “I serve customers at their location”. The tool then leaves out your street address and map pin.
- Never add fake ratings. Self-written star ratings for your own business aren’t eligible for review stars and can lead to a manual action from Google.
How to add the code to WordPress
Copy the code and paste it into the page that represents the business, usually your home or contact page. In Elementor, add an HTML widget anywhere on that page and paste the code into it. You can also use a header-and-footer code plugin and limit it to that page.
Before you add it, check whether your SEO plugin already outputs LocalBusiness schema. Rank Math, Yoast and others can do this. Two different business records on one page send mixed signals, so use either the plugin or this code, not both. Then run the page through Google’s Rich Results Test to confirm Google can read it.
